The familiarity that is a natural consequence of a long term relationship can dim appreciation for a partner’s virtues.
June 19th is our 48th wedding anniversary. In recent years I have learned to occasionally step back and look upon Christine with a stranger’s eyes.
In those moments I fully appreciate my good fortune in winning the “marriage lottery”.
Peace Everyone. Pete

Congrats to you and Christine. I hope the next 48 will be even better. If we had known retirement was this good, we would have done it first.

Congratulations to you both!! Your longevity as a couple is a blessing and also a great accomplishment. It would be a gift for people if you could share what you think are the traits and skills that helped you both in having such a partnership. Thank you for sharing your travels and your lives!

Congratulations – this picture of you two embodies the joy and beauty of a loving relationship. Frank and I will never hit the numbers that you and your Bride have .. but I feel as connected as I suspect you both do. Though you can never compare a 2nd time around relationship to that which has stood the test of young love, babies, sleepless night, illness, the stressors of raising those adorable babies and the like – but mostly time. However the growing “old” together is sweet and a gift I did not think I would be a part of – and yet, here I am with my “split apart.”
I am so grateful that I was wrapped up in the APOC page, that I read about your first Camino – that I practically climbed over a table to introduce myself to you both – which began our friendship. Lucky us! (insert a heart and a hug emoji).
